Purpose of the position

The Head of Real Estate Management Belgium ensures the implementation and optimization of real estate management processes in the Brussels region in line with Lufthansa Group and Brussels Airlines strategies. This includes oversight of planning, construction, operations, and refurbishment of infrastructure and facilities, with a strong focus on cost, quality, compliance, and operational performance. The role drives alignment with global real estate standards and stakeholder needs while leading a team of managers and experts in delivering real estate solutions for administrative, operational, and technical environments.

Your tasks

1.      Real Estate Strategy Implementation

  • Implement the real estate process portfolio and service depth according to global REM/FM strategy.
  • Group optimum with regard to alignment of business processes in terms of compliance, quality , efficiency and speed.
  • Align implementation with compliance and legal standards.
  • Active participation in the development of standards in the Group Real Estate community , enforcement to stakeholders.

2.      Lease Management & Rights to Use

  • Manage real estate lease agreements and associated administrative obligations.
  • Negotiate and maintain right-to-use agreements for operational and administrative infrastructure.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, financial, and operational frameworks in lease and occupancy arrangements.
  • Coordinate with legal, finance, and business stakeholders to support optimal lease decisions.

3.      Infrastructure Development & Project Delivery

  • Develops mid and long-term infrastructure optimization measures for all premises in Belgium and in Brussels Airlines outstations.
  • Development of and implementation of new construction, conversion or modernization project carried out at regional level.
  • Conception and development of measures to optimize costs and value engineering in investment projects.

4.      Operational Excellence & Facility Management

  • Implement Facility Management strategy to ensure proper building operations.
  • Guarantee service provider performance aligned with KPIs and SLAs.

5.      Budget & Performance Management

  • Plan, report, and control real estate and construction budgets (>€20M).
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements.
  • Contribute to P&L optimization from a group-wide perspective.
  • Ensures the quality and transparency of budget, project costs, leases.

6.      People & Stakeholder Management

  • Manage and develop a team of managers, experts, and coordinators.
  • Represent real estate interests toward business units, airport, and group functions.
  • Establish and steer adequate steering boards with relevant stakeholders.
  • Resolve escalations related to real estate projects, space allocation & operation of spaces.

 

Your profile

  • Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Architecture, Construction, or related field.
  • At least 10 years of experience in real estate management including leadership, process governance, and service provider management.
  • Experience working in matrix and virtual team structures across international environments.
  • Strategic real estate management.
  • Project and portfolio management (new build, refurbishment, operations).
  • Strong stakeholder and team leadership.
  • Focus on decision taking, strong, result-driven attitude, ability to handle and manage conflicts.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • High level of initiative and ownership.
  • Ability to manage complexity and drive group-wide alignment.

Purpose of the position

The Manager Workplace Strategy and Projects leads the execution and governance of Brussels Airlines’ workplace and infrastructure projects, including HQ development and airport-based facilities (such as maintenance hangars) according to the overall Real Estate Strategy.  This role combines workplace transformation with end-to-end project leadership and is responsible for establishing a Project Management Office (PMO), overseeing capital investments, and securing strong coordination with internal and external stakeholders—including proactive engagement of Brussels Airport counterparts.

 

Your tasks

Strategic Workplace Planning

 

  • Develop and execute a multi-year workplace strategies that aligns with organizational goals and enhance collaboration, productivity, and employee well-being and Lufthansa Group strategic direction.
  • Anticipate workforce and organisational workforce trends to shape dynamic, efficient and inclusive workplace environments. 
  • Develop and uphold design principles, planning standards, guidelines, and best practices for the Group’s, Belgium and African operations of SN.
  • Implement strategies to optimize occupancy levels, including hot-desking, flexible seating arrangements, and shared spaces.  
  • Work closely with senior leadership, HR, IT, and other departments to ensure alignment and support for workplace strategies. 

Change Management: 

  • Work closely with the Change Management Team to develop change management initiatives related to workplace design, technology and practices.

Project Development & Management

  • Lead a portfolio of critical real estate developments including HQ relocation, hangar modernization and operations infrastructure upgrades.
  • Govern full lifecycle of capital projects - strategic planning, feasibility, permitting, execution, commissioning – within scope, schedule and budget.
  • Ensure strategic scenario planning and risk mitigation for critical path projects.
  • Steer and manage conceptualization, development, planning and realization of Real Estate Projects, including African-leased properties.
  • Lead major capital projects including the future headquarters, technical infrastructure and hangar developments.
  • Act as the main interface with Brussels Airport Company and external developers—ensuring timely involvement, clear alignment of interests, and structured steering of all airport-related project interfaces.
  • Proactively anticipate dependencies with airport infrastructure, permitting and utility works, escalating and resolving issues to safeguard timelines and budgets.

Project Governance & PMO Implementation

  • Set up and lead a robust Project Management Office (PMO) for all real estate and workplace projects in scope  to drive consistency, transparency, and execution discipline.
  • Institutionalize consistent governance, reporting structures, and project methodology across the real estate domain.
  • Lead cross-functional project boards and ensure alignment with executive leadership and Lufthanse Real Estate.

Stakeholder and airport engagement

  • Represent Brussels Airlines in development planning with Brussels Airport Company and key external stakeholders.
  • Secure proactive alignment and timely decision-making with airport master planning, asset management and utility coordination and public authorities.

People Management and Provider Steering

  • Leads the various project teams , and project construction resources with a focus on coaching, accountability and capability development.
  • Promote a culture of performance, aligning talent and supplier performance with strategic outcomes.
  • Drive vendor management and tender oversight for capital project execution.

 

Your profile

  • University degree in Architecture or Civil Engineering (or equivalent); postgraduate education in real estate, construction management, or business strategy is a plus.
  • Minimum 7 years of professional experience in real estate being workplace management, construction management and/or project management, ideally in complex, regulated environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional programs and senior stakeholder discussions at executive or governmental level.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale infrastructure or fit-out projects, with solid knowledge of planning, permitting, execution, and stakeholder engagement. Familiar with structured project governance and cross-functional delivery models.
  • Fluent in English, proficient in Dutch.
  • Knowledge of sustainable building operations and/or building construction.
  • Solid understanding of legal matters related to construction and real estate transactions, including experience with FIDIC contracts, permitting procedures, compliance frameworks, and construction-related legal terms.
  • Advanced knowledge of project governance and project management.
  • Strategic and structured thinker with a hands-on, result-oriented mindset.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills across senior internal and external stakeholders.
  • Able to work in ambiguity, align diverse interests and steer teams toward common objectives.
  • Being able to lead by example, fostering accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Purpose of the job

As Strategic Buyer in Travel Management category you are responsible for developing and managing procurement strategies for hotel accommodation and transport services.

This role, although based in Brussels, covers the responsibilities for most Lufthansa Group airlines, with a geographical focus on particular markets like Africa or South Europe.

The responsibilities include conducting market analysis, evaluating suppliers, and exploring product/service alternatives to optimize procurement processes and ensure compliance with corporate standards and legal requirements.

The Strategic Buyer will work closely with suppliers, internal management, and various departments to achieve cost-effective procurement solutions and enhance the overall travel management strategy.

 

Key responsibilities of the job

  • Development of procurement strategy for the category Travel Management including market analysis, supplier evaluation, and exploring product/service alternatives.
  • Development and implementation of KPIs, including supplier management
  • Identification of optimization potential and contribution to efficiency programs across Lufthansa Group.
  • Continuous market observation and reporting of innovative developments to the corporate organization.
  • Management and execution of market tenders, including evaluation of offers, shortlisting, and supplier presentations.
  • Contract negotiations with suppliers commercially and legally up to the conclusion of contracts.
  • Supplier performance management ensuring compliance with agreements, optimizing processes, and leading supplier discussions with management.
  • Analysis and definition of functional requirements based on stakeholder information and reports.
  • Consideration of corporate sustainability goals for all procurement processes.

Your profile

  • Completed university studies in the field of business or similar
